Here they are....FatLip's Top Ten Prospects.....
10. Aron Brown / CMMA / Featherweight
This athlete is consistent of the CMMA mold; tuff, ready and willing. Brown gave Steve Dietrich all he could handle in a fight earlier this year. Brown has a win over very solid Kevin Bathon. This CMMA fighter has exhibited composure in the cage, that of a fighter well beyond his years. At the ripe old age of 19, I think it is safe to proclaim, "the future is bright for Aron Brown".
9. Yohance Flager / Berger's MMA / Featherweight
"Yogi" is one of Berger's most experienced fighters. His impressive record is a who's who of the Missouri/Illinois fight scene. Yogi is, hands down, the most dynamic fighter on our list. The Berger MMA featherweight at times has shown great promise as he approaches his leap into the pro ranks. Flager has a win over NCAA wrestler Art Fuller of CMMA.
8. Rob Sherry / St. Charles MMA / Bantamweight
2010 has been a year of injuries for the Gracie BJJ blue belt. Sherry last winter brought home a St. Louis Golden Gloves title, before being sidelined with injuries sustained to both hands. Sherry rattled off victories over highly regarded contenders that include Yohance Flager, Shelby Graham and Eric Acuna. Most MMA insiders agree that Sherry will be solid pro fighter.
7. Ashley "Smashley" Cummins / St. Charles MMA / 115 lbs
Cummins has already captured the woman's Tuff-N-Uff title at 115 lbs by defeating a Wanderiel Silva trained fighter Gabriella Lakoczky on the Tuff-N-Uff Fight Show in Las Vegas on May 28, 2010. Ashley, who has serious Muay Thai skills, is now working on her ground game to compliment her heavy hands.
6. Danny Branson / Pat Smith's Pit / Bantomweight
Branson finished second in the Missouri State Wrestling Tournament in Columbia, MO. He's put together an impressive 4-1 MMA record, with his only blemish coming to Alp Ozkillic on July 31, 2010 at Cage Championships in Washington, MO. Branson is one of the Show-Me state's rising young MMA stars. The young Branson is still fine tuning his game. He has potential to be "BIG" at the next level.
5. Steve Dietrich / Berger's MMA / Featherweight
This athlete is our sleeper pick to do great things at the pro-level. While holding several titles at the ammy level, Steve has shown a zest to simply become better. While his ground game is his strong suite, his stand up is always evolving. If only every MMA fighter carried themselves like this guy.
4. Alp Ozkillic / St. Charles MMA / Bantomweight
A native of Turkey, Alp brings an international wrestling background that has transitioned well to the Midwest fight scene. As if, World Class Wrestling background were not enough! Ozkillic is a member of St. Charles MMA, who sits atop the mountain of the St. Louis MMA scene.
3. Kevin Bathon / Domain MMA / Featherweight
"The Marathon Man" as he is known, lives up to that moniker with impressive victories over Yohance Flager and Shelby Graham. Bathon comes from a "legite" camp and has an unparalleled work ethic in the training room. He is a major player in the featherweight division in the St. Louis MMA fight scene.
2. Justin Lawrence / 21st Century / Lightweight
This fighter has caught the eye of current UFC Middleweight Champion, Anderson Silva. Lawrence was invited to train at "Team Black House" steeped in rich MMA tradition in California. Currently with a 6-0 MMA record, he has a win over MMA standout, Nam Phan of Westminster, California. The potential seems endless for the Pacific, MO fighter.
1. Jake Collier / Pat Smith's Pit / Middleweight
There is a good chance that this middleweight will have a solid Pro career. He is probably the most "well rounded" fighter on our list. Jake's record currently stands at 10-1, with his only loss coming to a very good, Blake Chatham early in his career. The Central Missouri MMA landscape has been very exciting due, in large, to this rising young star.
