The IFC Warrior Challenge Heavyweight Champion, Dave Huckaba, retained his belt via KO over a very game and very tough Mike Cook. The Fight was the Main Event of the IFC Warrior Challenge 28 card, that took place at the Gold Country Casino in Oroville, CA on August 21, 2010.
Dave Huckaba is a 36 year old fighter from Rio Linda, CA, who has a 10-4 Pro record in MMA. "The Bad Man" as he is known, gives off bad vibes, even in the lobby hours before his scheduled fight with the Elite XC vet, Mike Cook. One would get the feeling that the IFC Champ is somewhat of a loose cannon, as far as we can determine. Huckaba seems to be a throw back type fighter, cut from a cloth of an era long ago. You won't find any B.S. from this athlete, just kind of a "What you see is what you get!" and if you don't like that, well then it's your problem! It seems that Huckaba is making a serious run at MMA with an outstanding performance against the younger, Mike Cook. Huckaba poses some serious fire power in both hands. In Huckaba's first title defense, he came in to the fight with Cook in very good shape. "The Bad Man" showed good movement with his head and feet, while constantly changing angles and levels with his arsenal of punches throughout the fight. In the end, just too much Huckaba, with well placed left hooks to the head and straight rights to follow to the face that found the mark time and time again. The MMA Heavyweight picture has many fighters lurking just outside the radar. Sometimes what you don't see, CAN HURT YOU!!! Dave Huckaba IS a "Bad Man".
